Otis at 70!

10 Sep

The great “Love Man”, Otis Redding would have been 70 yesterday. Killed in a plane crash in December of 1967 at the age of 26, Otis left a relatively small but extremely powerful portfolio of work. His mercuric, yet oh so abbreviated three year run shaped music for the next 40 years. Just recently, Kanye West and Jay-Z collaborated on Otis:

As for me, I’ll stick with the REAL Otis…

Just goes to show that extreme talent and passion endures…

Love that jay-z throwback to Otis!! Didn’t realize he was only 26 when he died. Tragic.

What a power house! One of my favorites is

I’ve Been Loving You Too Long…What he could squeeze out of each note musically and emotionally was astonishing. This is the vocal version of pulling the sweetest most satisfying taffy. One of the best make out songs ever. *sigh*

Yes, Amy. THREE years. What an impact.

Shrew, that is my all time favorite Otis. First song Alex and I ever danced to. Otis makes you “feel” it.
