Return of Taylor Time…

Taylor “Black, White & Gray all over” Hicks

Well, this is the weekend. I’m actually going to make the trek to Louisiana to see Taylor Hicks, once again, at The Paragon Casino in Marksville, LA. I’m a little apprehensive to go as I’m still on crutches and in this boot. But, my daughters-in-law assure me that they will haul me around and basically “make it happen”. One is driving four hours here to pick me up (‘cuz I still can’t drive).

So, I thought that I’d put together my suggested Set List. Thankfully, the Soul Patrol has provided ample videos of virtually every song Taylor has sung or “tagged”. The only one that I didn’t find that I would consider giving my eye teeth to hear live is Grandma’s Hands.

I’m sure we’re in store for a great show, but if he really wants to knock ’em dead I think he should perform MY setlist…I’ll have a full report upon my return.

Call Me The Breeze

Rockin’ Pneumonia/Hey Pocky Way/Big Chief

Run Baby Run

Wherever I Lay My Hat

My Friend

The Fall and Take Me to the Pilot

Heart and Soul

In Your Time

Grits Ain’t Groceries/Can’t Trust Your Neighbor

Hold Onto Your Love

The Right Place (after a short interview)

Here is a LINK to a very nice High Def. version of this performance.  I do so love the harp in this version of The Right Place.

Don’t Let Me Down

A Day in the Life

Feelin’ Alright

Happier with Him

    Ah… Taylor Time.

Now THAT’S a setlist. You better get you some dancin’ boots or dancin’ crutches. Either that or you’re gonna be hoppin’ on one foot all over the Paragon.

Glad to hear that you’re not letting a little leg injury stop you from seeing Taylor. Have a great time.

P.S. I’ve heard that if you take a 6 year-old you might get some Taylor love if you hang by the busses. Although you could try to leverage the cast on your leg and the crutches into some Taylor love as well 😉

    Have a good time.

    The way things are
going I may never see this guy live.
For some reason the West Coast is
    not a big fan.

Hey DD.. will look forward to your recaps!! i’m sure you’ll do well and really enjoy 😉

By the way, for the video link for ‘THE RIGHT PLACE’ from “The View”, I suggest replacing the YouTube vid with the one Gray posted on Vimeo- it’s the High Def video Gypsee captured which is MUCH better quality, because of Vimeo’s different compression, etc.

    Here’s the link:

(For my setlist, I’d add “Son of A Carpenter”.. I’ve always wanted to see that live…)

Btw, thanks for the amazing DUETS thread the other time.. am hoping to take some time to really get into that one of these days.. only had time to glance at it and was impressed big time!

    Take care, and safe trip!

P.S. re: morewines note… I don’t feel the problem is that there aren’t plenty of Taylor Hicks fans on the West Coast; many of us who are out here (and were at the incredible Warfield show in May) feel the culpability lies with the pathetic marketing campaign for the CA shows, which was virtually non-existent..
For ex., they could have advertised that the Warfield concert was going to be recorded for a Live DVD.. that would have filled a lot more seats, and with proper P.R., would have sold it out…

We expect bigger and better promotional efforts when Taylor does some dates out here as part of the “fall acoustic tour”… hoping he’ll play small venues (like Chris D. did!), such as the Great American Music Hall in S.F. which holds 5-600… we’ll see…

You have a blast my dear friend. Who do you think will be a special guest? Any Ex-Meters coming on stage during ohhh I don’t know…some song?

Not counting on a special guest in Marksville. It’s a bit off the beaten path from the mecca of New Orleans.

Laurita — WordPress doesn’t let me embed Vimeo. I will link it on the main page, however.

Have a great time! I hope you get all your wishes on your set list. He did The Right Place at the Hyannis show and I was so happy I nearly wet myself. It was everything I thought maybe it could be live from the first time I heard the recording.

Aww DD so sorry to hear you are still hurting! Now don’t you know that Taylor would love to sign that cast?

    Love your set list.
    Have a blast!

    Much Love,

I’m hoping for Somehow or The Fall in Goshen,IN on Monday. I’m even holding up a poster requesting it. We’re in the front row, and I’m so psyched. Don’t you weare him out MM/DD. I would milk that boot for all it’s worth. Taylor’s got a soft spot in his heart if you’re differently abled-so I’d use a wheelchair! (well, maybe I wouldn’t go that far…)

Have a great time! Thanks for the vids!

Your fam rocks for “making it happen”! I guess y’all are probably on the road right now! Thanks for the link to the View clip – it was a good one!
