For Lex

24 Oct

 Lex David Trahan (1964-1983)

 Rest in Peace, dear friend.

  My Old Friend, Tim McGraw

My old friend, I recall
The times we had hanging on my wall
I wouldn’t trade them for gold
Cause they laugh and they cry me
Somehow sanctify me
They’re woven in the stories I have told
And tell again

My old friend, I apologize
For the years that have passed
Since the last time you and I
Dusted off those memories
But the running and the races
The people and the places
There’s always somewhere else I had to be
Time gets thin, my old friend

Don’t know why, don’t know why
Don’t know why, don’t know why

My old friend, this song’s for you
Cause a few simple verses
Was the least that I could do
To tell the world that you were here
Cause the love and the laughter
Will live on long after
All of the sadness and the tears
We’ll meet again, my old friend

Goodbye, goodbye
Goodbye, goodbye

My old friend, my old friend
Goodbye, goodbye

    THAT, would be a first.

Shit, this is why I love music. You think you been healed, you think your ok, you think its over and then a lyric like that comes back to haunt you.

I had forgotten. Thanks for reminding me that life is a gift and a healthy life, well, thats priceless.

I hate this time of year.

    Dear, Dear Tim McGraw,
Are we reading this correctly? Did you really write a song for our LEX? We are not use to blogging and am not sure this will get to you.
I sure hope it does. Will write more when we hear from you.

We are the Lex parents living in Lafayette, LA.

Oh my God,I do hope you get this. It did so much to our hearts to see this song and were so happy that you among all other people remember our Lex! Please email us!!!

    Mrs Shiley and Mr Percy,
Please know that your Lex will forever be in our hearts. I just happened to watch the news that day the bombing took place and saw the both of you. I was newly married and children were in our future. This newscast really affected me, I just couldnt imagine losing my only child the way you did. From that day forward I made a promise, if I ever had a son, he would be named Lex. On April 8, 1991, my Lex was born. Your Lex will live forever in my son, Lex Reed Bertrand. Your Lex will forever be my hero.
