Twenty seven years ago. Has it really been that long? The void is still so huge.
John Lennon (1940 – 1980)
Heather has a post up at I am Friends, You are Fuel that includes Part 1 of John Lennon’s last interview.

What a great performance, Morewines! There are several versions of John in my memory bank, and forever in my musical heart. For me, he was the BEST ROCK VOCALIST bar none, plus so much more.
here’s Rockin’ John 1.0, with a great live version of the early song, “You Can’t Do That:”
John 2.0, when he began writing songs with deeply-felt lyrics: (“In My Life”)
and John 3.0, post-Yoko and into his final phase — an acoustic, very rare video of “Imagine” posted in YouTube recently

I still remember brushing my teeth the next day and my Mom telling me someone shot John Lennon. I was a huge Beatles Fan then…you’d swear it was 1967 if you walked into my room, not 1980. It is a moment or a feeling I will never forget. The only other time I felt just that way was in 2004, when George died.
Anyway…here is my favorite John vocal…talk about soul.
Hide Your Love Away

morewines…I answered you on the other thread.
Colette. In My Life is one of my all-time favorites. There has never been as prolific a songwriting team as Lennon and McCartney. Doubt there ever will be.

Yes….”You’ve Got to Hide Your Love Away,” “In My Life,” “Imagine”…..if he had only wrote those songs, he’d be a beloved genius! But so much more….
MUST READ THIS!!!!!!!

He sure got talent but I heard he stated in his last interview that:
‘Christianity will end, it will disappear…I do not have to argue about that, I am certain.Jesus was ok, but his subjects were too simple, today we are more famous than Him’ (1966)…Lennon, after saying that the Beatles were more famous than Jesus Christ, was shot six times.

Sorry, but if you’re trying to say that God “punished” Lennon 15 years after he made said comment, I can’t go there with you. Lennon was also about peace and love and helping his fellow man. God doesn’t “punish”, he forgives. The devil, on the other hand, is the murderer and thief. Perhaps Lennon became a victim of the devil because of his goodness.

Poet/Photographer/Dreamer/Vegetarian/Peace Activist/Lover of all things./ Without John Lennon I would have never got to be the way I am. Those things describe what he did in my life. I never met him. Heck, I was born 13 years after his death. But I will never forget his impact he left on the world. I hope we can all live in peace and love. I hope we can all give it a chance! Live as one!
