The ties that bind are the strongest. Today, we lost a beloved patriarch. While the ravages of time had taken their toll, it’s never easy to say goodbye to a parent, particularly for a son to lose a father. Please keep my sweet Mr. D in your thoughts and prayers over the next few days.

Im awful sorry. I promise to keep Mr. D in my thoughts for him to have the strength over the coming days especially, and for you to have the strength to watch him grieve. Im not sure which is worse.

I don’t have any songs that offer any comfort, but this is a poem that was read at a friend’s funeral that I found very helpful. Unfortunately I do not know who the author is…

So sorry for your family’s loss, MM! At any age, it’s so hard to lose a beloved parent. But do remember what a blessing it is to be “beloved” in one’s lifetime, by sons and others.

Thanks all you guys. Means alot. Shrew, I actually played that song for Mr. D’s father during our trip to Israel. He lost a son (Mr. D’s brother) in 1986 and I thought he’d like it. He did. Full circle. Noice.

So sorry, MM. We lost my husband’s father last January. I know my husband took solace in knowing that his father lived a good life, had a long, wonderful retirement, and a family who loved him. My thoughts are with you and Mr. D.

One thing I remember about the ceremony was the amount of people who came to pay their respects. While I always knew that he touched so many lives, I was left in awe in seeing the amount of people at the cathedral. He is certainly missed.

Thanks, Markie. Glad you stopped by. The measure of a man is truly not what he did for himself but what he did for others. Your Grandfather certainly did more for others than for himself. Hopefully, his spirit will now live on in all of his wonderful offspring.
