This weekend begins our summer vacation in beautiful L.A. (Lower Alabama). We’ll be at the beach for 7 lovely days. A time to relax, have some fun and take stock of our lives. Given this objective, I need some music. Can you guys help me to construct a killer playlist for the beach? I hope so.

You should really have the entire Legend album. Also, it’s the beach…gotta have Kenny Chesney-Boston, Blue Chair, and get nostalgic with Back Where I Come From. Otis- sitting on the dock of the bay. And, of course, don’t leave home without Buffett. But go deep… Tree Top Flyer, Trying to Reason With Hurricane Season, and The Weather is Here, Wish You Were Beautiful. And maybe even finish it up with John Denver’s Country Road. Dame Dawn I wish we were coming with you! I guess I will drink an abundant amount of Miller Lite’s here instead. The music snob in me says yes, but the Cajun partier in me says, “Hell no…we hafta have some Jimmay.” Actually Tin Cup Chalice and A Pirate Looks at 40 are two of my absolute favorite songs to listen to on the beach.

Ah yes, cheesy deliciousness. That one usually comes out at the end of the day when most defenses are gone and the singing gets loud…along with I’ve Got Friend in Low Places by Garth Brooks and Sweet Home Alabama.

Now I’m confused about where you’re from. Are you aware of Robert Earl Keen? He’s a big fish in a smallish pond, very popular here in Texas. The Road Goes On Forever (and the party never ends) is one of his staples:
